ALBUM REVIEW: GRINDHOUSE – CAN I DRIVE YOUR COMMODORE?

(Off The Hip)

Ozzie anarchy and angry punk comedy

7/10

“Give me your number, I’ll never call ya!” screams Mick ‘2 Fingers’ Simpson, front man and guitarists of Grindhouse on the opening track of the album, and you’d probably be glad he didn’t, going by the record cover! Released through the Australian DIY label ‘Off The Hip’ based in Melbourne comes Grindhouse’s adrenaline-charged 3rd album. Crammed full of sick jokes, this is 25 mins of heavy bass, fast drums and guitar shredding testosterone.

The garage proto punk-rockers have amassed 10 blistering tracks of high-octane comedy rock ‘n’ roll, sounding like The Dead Kennedys meets the Jackass crew.

There’s a whole song dedicated to the question ‘Where’s the Fucking Cheese?’ and another track called ‘Shit Cocaine’ which is funny even if you can’t relate.

Recorded in front of a live television audience in November 2017 in downtown Frankston, Victoria with Steve McDonald (The Melvins, Redd Kross & Off!) at the mixing desk, it’s definitely worth checking out.
