WILL WHISSON

OUT OF THE WOODS

(Self-Release)

Ex-Electric River guitarist releases impressive debut solo album.

★★★☆☆

‘Mercy of the Moment’ starts as a palate cleanser instrumental track that warms you up to the record gradually, sounding like meditation music. Two minutes in it kicks into a ‘Pinball Wizard’ build-up and Will’s voice bellows in with a ‘Hello!’. The song transforms into a Tom Petty indie folk rock ballad. ‘One In A Million’ is a humbling track with grateful lyrics about loving someone special. The more you listen, the more you notice little details like the harmonics and piano on ‘South Of The River’ and the layered vocals on ‘Moonlight Melody’. Will took 15 months to put the record together with help from fans through Kickstarter. He recently completed a 3-month European tour and regularly performs all over Europe travelling in his van full time. For the album he set up a small home studio in Kent and also recorded in London and Wales. Will captures life’s moments of confusion, clarity and gratitude.
