Australian psych rockers deliver second of five albums for release this year.
Moving faster than light –Geelong’s King Gizzard are set to release the second of five albums planned for release in 2017, each album bridging to the next part of their epic, psychedelic tale. Following ‘Flying Microtonal Banana’ this sprawling 21 track album is broken down into three distinct chapters concerned with the downfall of man and the death of the planet. First chapter ‘The Tale of the Altered Beast’ darts back and forth between Altered Beast parts 1-4 and Alter Me parts 1-3. Second chapter ‘The Lord Of Lightning Vs. Balrog’ is as far out as a game of dungeons and dragons on acid, including some satanic sounding speeches which have been pitch bent to sound eerie and unnerving. Third and final chapter ‘Han-Tyumi And The Murder Of The Universe’ is a mind bending apocalyptic climax to the album. ‘Murder of the Universe’ was recorded at Flightless HQ in East Brunwick, Melbourne Australia in early 2017 and produced by the bands Stu Mackenzie. This exciting live band have also used snippets of earlier recordings ‘I’m In Your Mind Fuzz’ and ‘Nonagon Infinity’ to embellish the trippy album, almost like giving the audience an anchoring in the story so they don’t get too lost in confusion.
